I'm Ron Shaw, the founder and president of Ron Shaw & Associates Inc. My journey in the municipal sector began with studies in Commerce, Finance, and Urban Studies at the University of Toronto. While at University I worked summers at the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasureres of Ontario. After earning a Diploma in Municipal Administration from Queen’s University, I delved into the field, starting as a research associate at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario before taking on my first municipal role as treasurer of the Town of Kincardine.
With a supportive family, including my wife Anthea, daughter Hannah, and stepdaughters Frances and Mikaela, I'm driven to make meaningful contributions both professionally and personally. My daughter Hannah is working on her Master’s in Social Work at the University of Toronto. My stepdaughter, Frances, practices medicine in Fort St. John, and Mikaela works in British Columbia.
For over three decades, I've served as Chief Administrative Officer in Ontario, with notable roles in Kincardine and Stratford. In these municipalities, I honed my expertise in municipal governance, finance, and administration, celebrating a combined 30 years of leadership. As a single tier municipality, Stratford provided me the oppotunity to learn about all aspects of municipal service.
Throughout my career, I've been committed to advancing municipal management and governance. From instructing at Georgian College to serving in leadership roles in various municipal associations, I've been dedicated to promoting excellence and professionalism in local government. I have been rewarded for my contributions with a Prestige award from AMCTO and an honourary life membership from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators.
Beyond my professional endeavours, I'm deeply involved in community initiatives. Recognized with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, I've contributed to organizations like the United Way where I co-chaired a successful United Way campaing and the Huron Perth Centre for Children and Youth where I served as president. Currently, I serve as treasurer of the Rotary Club of Lion’s Gate and as Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for Rotary District 5040. I will serve as District Governor in 2027-2028.
I am committed to delivering exceptional services to the municipal sector, drawing from decades of experience and a passion for community development. Whether you seek expert consulting, effective project management, or comprehensive training, I am here to assist you. Let's work together to create positive change and build vibrant, sustainable communities.
